The child/young person’s first assessment is conducted by a paediatric doctor (or a child and adolescent psychiatrist in East Hertfordshire). Subsequent appointments are conducted by a paediatrician (or child psychiatrist in East Hertfordshire), or a nurse with ADHD specialist knowledge.
Children diagnosed with ADHD and started on medication receive regular and frequent reviews in the ADHD clinic and more frequent reviews by the ADHD nurses by phone/email as appropriate.
Children who are stabilised on their medication are reviewed 6 monthly (as appropriate).
Children who are diagnosed with ADHD but not started on medication are discharged after 1-2 reviews (as appropriate) and signposted to support services within the school/community.
The ADHD specialist nurse service provides regular support for children/young people with ADHD/ADD and can be contacted via the nurse contact details provided.
