Following feedback from both service users and our staff, and through our relationship with the Lister Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP), we are pleased to announce an extension to the times that a partner/nominated support person can visit antenatal and postnatal wards at Lister Hospital Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit.
Nominated support partners
All service users will be offered an opportunity to nominate someone as their support partner. This could be the parent of the unborn baby, or a family member.
Visiting a ward
Nominated support partners visiting the Lister Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit can now stay until midnight on the antenatal (Dacre) and postnatal (Gloucester) wards. This is to ensure we provide new families with more quality time together in the early hours after birth.
Visiting overnight
Although the nominated support partner is permitted to visit up until midnight, overnight visiting can not be accommodated and partners will be asked to leave the maternity unit at midnight.
After having time to rest at home, support partners are welcome to return to the maternity unit from 9am.
Re-entering the unit after 10pm
Whilst the visiting hours have been extended to midnight, we want to ensure any potential disruption for both our staff and those using our services are minimised. As a result, anyone leaving the wards after 10pm will not be able to re-enter the unit as there will not be a ward clerk on duty.
The designated birth partner must:
- Not change (this person can not be swapped with someone else)
- Only attend between the hours listed above
- Only use the designated toilets provided
Additional visiting (siblings, grandparents)
Other additional visitors may attend, with the restriction of 2 at the bedside, between the hours of 2pm and 6pm.
Additional visitors must:
- Only attend between the hours of 2pm and 6pm
- Ensure there are only 2 guests at the bedside at all times
- Only use the designated toilets provided
