Our Clinical Support Workers play a vital part in providing high quality, compassionate care to our community. Whichever ward or clinical area you may work on, you can be sure you’ll be a valued member of our clinical team and will really make a difference to our patient’s lives whilst they are in our care.
Some of the responsibilities within the role of Clinical Support Worker are:
- Communicating with patients
- Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/Midwife
- Washing / dressing patients
- Taking patients physiological observations
- Making beds and cleaning bed areas
- Serving meals and assisting feeding patients
- Talking / listening to patients
To succeed in this role, you will need to be:
- Kind and caring
- Friendly and approachable
- Able to follow instruction and procedures in line with Trust Policy
- Able to demonstrate using own initiative
- Flexible, in terms of working hours and the tasks you undertake – no two days are the same!
- Over 18 years of age
We have vacancies that cut across all our divisions, which include planned and unplanned. Our Clinical Support Workers work a variety of days, nights, weekends and bank holidays on a shift basis, depending on where they work. Any hours worked on bank holidays, weekends and nights attract pay supplements.
Most of our Clinical Support Workers choose to undertake an apprenticeship in Health and Social Care Level 2, so you will have access to a robust induction and onboarding programme, as well as time off for study.

The sky is the limit for our Clinical Support Workers. After completion of your Level 2 apprenticeship, there are opportunities to progress to Level 3, as well as the chance to apply to become a Student Nursing Associate, and even undertake nursing training eventually.
