If you would like to cancel or request a change to the date or time of your hospital appointment, you can do so through the following ways:
- E-Referral Service (ERS) for new appointments – If you’ve received referral confirmation paperwork from your GP, if you’ve been referred into a Directly Bookable service or with Referral Assessment Service paperwork, then you can request appointment changes via this page on the NHS website.
- Patient Hub – We are currently rolling out the digital Patient Hub in our services at the Trust, which gives our patients immediate access to their appointment, and allows them to accept, cancel or request a rebook electronically.
- Text message – We send reminder message to patients for whom we have registered mobile phones numbers, which also allow you to accept, cancel or request a rebook by replying to the message with this request.
- Over the phone – Our booking team contact numbers are detailed at the top of appointment letters, or you can call the outpatient appointment helpline on 01438 284444.
You will need to contact us by telephone using the number on your appointment letter if the appointment you wish to cancel/ change falls in to any of the following categories:
- If your appointment is in the next 24 hours
- If it is an inpatient appointment
- If the appointment is at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre
Security – patients and our staff
While our staff are there to help, we expect them to be able to do so without being abused in any way. Where patients and/or their visitors become abusive, for whatever reason, then this is something that we will take very seriously. We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to abuse of our staff.
