Pathway to Excellence is a ‘nursing and midwifery excellence’ framework, aiming to create a positive practice environment where our staff can excel. The programme will support our staff in delivering excellence in care to improving outcomes for our patients, families and the local community. It is delivered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
We are delighted to announce that in July 2022 we were the second Trust in the UK to receive Pathway to Excellence designation.
Achieving Pathway to Excellence designation demonstrates our commitment to creating an environment where our staff can excel, that we are committed to continuous improvement, that we value and listen to feedback and that we provide safe and excellent standards of care for our patients.
The programme recognises that everybody has the ability to influence and affect change. It is important to us that we learn from our feedback. We believe in shared decision making and welcome feedback from our service users and our staff. All our staff at the point of direct care have the opportunity to get involved in quality improvement to support developments of initiatives which will help to improve the experience and outcomes for our patients and their families.
As part of our designation, we have introduced local accreditation. All our inpatient areas and departments will undergo a comprehensive assessment to learn how they are doing and to support their journeys of continuous improvement. This is important to us because it supports the trust in maintaining high standards of care for our patients, their families and for the local community.
